Protesting against unjust governments, allowed?

Tuhuf ul uqool

يا ابن النعمان إذا كانت دولة الظلم فامش واستقبل من تتقيه بالتحية، فإن المتعرض للدولة قاتل نفسه وموبقها، إن الله يقول: " ولا تلقوا بأيديكم إلى التهلكة

 

[Imam Ja'far al Sadiq (as) said]: "O ibn Nu'man, when you are ruled by an oppressive government/state then walk and receive/welcome whoever you fear with salutation, for indeed the opposer of the state is killer of his self and destroyed himself, indeed Allah (swt) says (in al Qur'an 2: 195): And do not meet (push) yourselves by your hands to doom."
