Dying without knowing the Imam (as)

Al Imamah wal Tabsirah

باب في أن من مات وليس له إمام مات ميتة جاهلية

Chapter on that whoever died and did not have an Imam, he died death of jahiliyyah (ignorance).

 

 الحذاء قال: سمعت أبا جعفر عليه السلام، يقول: من مات لا يعرف إمامه، مات ميتة جاهلية كفر ونفاق وضلال

Al Hadha' said: I heard Aba Ja'far (as) say: "Whoever died not knowing his Imam, he died death of jahiliyyah (ignorance) kufr (disbelief) and nifaq (hypocrisy) and dhalal (deviance/misguidance)."  

 

وعنه، عن محمد بن عيسى، عن الحسن بن علي بن فضال، عن أبي جميلة، عن أبي بكر الحضرمي عن أبي عبدالله عليه السلام، قال: من مات وليس له إمام، مات ميتة جاهلية

And from him, from Muhammad b. Isa, from al Hussain b. Ali b. Fudal, from abi Jamilah, from abi Bakr al Hadhrami, from abi Abdullah (as) who said: "Whoever died and did not have an Imam, he died death of jahiliyyah (ignorance)."

 

وعنه، عن محمد بن عيسى، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن أبي سعيد المكاري، عن عمار: عن أبي عبدالله عليه السلام: قال: سمعته يقول: من مات وليس له إمام، مات ميتة جاهلية كفر وشرك وضلال

And from him, from Muhammad b. Isa, from al Hasan b. Mahboob, from abi Saeed al Mukari, from Ammar: From abi Abdullah (as): He (narrator) said: I heard him (as) say: "Whoever died and did not have an Imam, he died death of jahiliyyah (ignorance) kufr (disbelief), and shirk (polytheism) and dhalal (deviance/misguidance)."
