Praying in jama'at led by resident aalims: Allowed?

These days it's a common trend that local Islamic centers would import foreign clerics to be then designated as "resident aalims". Among other things, these imported 'maulana sahabs' also lead the congregational prayers. However, is it alright for the local people who may not know anything about the newly imported cleric (besides, as soon as the cleric gets a better 'offer' he'll leave for greener pastures and would be replaced by another import and the cycle goes on) to pray behind him?

Wasail al shia

Chapter on impressibility of emulation of unknown person.

Muhammad b. Umar b. Abdul Aziz al Kashi in book (ar Rijal): From Adam b. Muhammad, from Ali b. Muhammad, from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya, from Ya'qoob b. Yazid, from his father Yazid b. Hammad, from Abi al Hasan (as), said: I said to him(as): Can I pray behind one whom I don't know? So he(as) said: Don't pray except behind one whose religion you trust in.

And from al Sadiq(as) who said: Three (are such) do not pray behind them, one of them is the majhool (unknown).
