Kissing hands of scholars, allowed?

Tuhaf al uqool

And said (Imam al Redha)(as): "The man should not kiss the man's hand, for indeed (when he) kissed his hand (it is) as if he prayed to him."

Tuhaf ul uqool

Then (Imam Hasan al Askari)(as) said: "The polytheism in the people is more subtle than crawling of the ant upon the black cloth in the dark night.

Authenticity of above ahadith:

Shaikh Ibn Shu'ba al Harani (the compiler of Tuhuf ul uqool) says,

Preface of Tuhuf ul Uqool

And I omitted the isnad (chains of narrations) for ease/simplicity and brevity, however, most of it I heard (directly) and because most of it is of manners and wisdom that testify to themselves, and I did not collect that for the evil mukhalif (offender/opponent) rather I compiled it for the submitter to the Imams (as), the one knowledgeable of their (as) right, the one content with their (as) saying, the one who refers to them (as).

  1. Assalaamu `Alaykum,

I have made a blog post showing the saheeh hadeeth about not kissing the hand of scholars.
