Is it possible to understand ahadith?

It is a very common practice that our priests (marjas, mujtahids, "shaikhs", etc) and their servants/followers would highly discourage people from reading and narrating ahadith under the pretext that you (i.e. the layman who didn't go to hawza to study a man made curriculum ripped off from sunnis) can not understand ahadith. Only the priests, who somehow received revelations or something (yet their fatawas differ so highly among themselves) can understand ahadith. So basically, just like hindu brahmin pundits, our priests also keep the masses in check by keeping the religious knowledge confined to the ruling priests and thereby charge high annual subscription fee (under the pretext of khums) to 'guide us'. So what do our ahadith actually say about this? Did the Prophet (PBUH) and the Imams(as) deliberately speak in such a confusing manner that only a select few can 'decode' their sayings?

Kafi

جماعة من أصحابنا، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن الحسن بن علي ابن فضال، عن بعض أصحابنا، عن أبي عبدالله عليه السلام قال: ما كلم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله العباد بكنه عقله قط، وقال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: إنا معاشر الانبياء امرنا أن نكلم الناس على قدر عقولهم

A group among our companions, from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa, from al Hasan b. Ali ibn Fudhal, from some of our companions, from Abi Abdullah (as) said: Never did Rasool Allah (PBUH) speak  to the people with full power of his (PBUH) intelligence." And (Imam(as)) said: "Rasool Allah (PBUH) said: We society of Prophets has been commanded to speak with the people upon (as per) their measure (level) of intelligence."

And what about the Imams (as), was their(as) speech different?

علي بن محمد، عن سهل بن زياد، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن عمر بن عبدالعزيز عن هشام بن سالم وحماد بن عثمان وغيره قالوا: سمعنا أبا عبدالله عليه السلام يقول: حديثي حديث أبي، وحديث أبي حديث جدي، وحديث جدي حديث الحسين، وحديث الحسين حديث الحسن، وحديث الحسن حديث أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام وحديث أمير المؤمنين حديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وحديث رسول الله قول الله عزوجل

Ali b. Muhammad, from Sahl b. Ziad, from Ahmad b. Muhammad, from Umar b. Abdul Aziz from Hisham b. Saalim and Hammad b.Uthman and other than him said: We heard Aba Abdullah (as) say: "My hadith is hadith of my father, and hadith of my father is hadith of my grand father, and hadith of my grand father is hadith of al Hussain (as), and hadith of al Hussain (as) is hadith of al Hasan (as), and hadith of al Hasan (as) is hadith of Amirul momineen (as), and hadith of Amirul momineen (as) is hadith of Rasool Allah (PBUH) and hadith of Rasool Allah (PBUH) is saying of Allah (swt)."
